Would you take a Finnish vet student trainee to your pig farm for 2 weeks? |
|
Hallo!
I am a 24-year-old student from Veterinary School of Finland (University of Helsinki). Our studies include a two week (12 days) practice in a pig farm, and I'm now looking a nice farm to practice in. I have heard the pig industry is more evolved and health & welfare issues more discussed in Switzerland than in Finland, and that's why I'd like to do my pig practice in Switzerland.
The point of the practice is to get to know about normal everyday work and routines of a pig farm like cleaning, feeding etc. That means I would be a part of your working team every day for 12 days and work like everybody else. The job doesn't have to be involved with salary, but employer provides food and accommodation to his/her trainee.
I haven't been working in a pig farm before, but I've grown up in countryside and worked as cow inseminator, so I'm used to hard work and getting my hands dirty. As a worker I'm motivated, brisk and reliable. I like working with different people and I'm calm and patient with animals. I would like to learn as much as I can about taking care of pigs and pig indurstry.
I can communicate well with English, but I can also speak a little bit of German.
If you have a pig farm and you would like to take a social and good worker from Finland to work in your pig farm for 12 days (or you know someone willing to), don't hesitate to contact me with email: hwkaar@gmail.com .
Hope to hear you soon!

Hi Henna!
What exactly are you looking for? I´m pretty sure that you would like to do your practice with "normal" pigs, right? Most of the people here have "Minipigs" or potbelliedpigs... Non of us have a pigfarm
. All we have (two of us) is a pig-shelter... Both of us life in germany, not switzerland. Sorry for that! The problem is also that very few of us speak english...
If you wanna contact me write to: Doris.McGinness@Schweinefreunde.de or give me a call: 049 6183 74179.

Aa, ok!
Then I have misunderstood this forum's audience - sorry for that!
What I'm looking for is a pig farm from where the animals are for food production, so minipigs or other kinds of pet pigs are not actually what I'm looking for. But I'll continue from somewhere else, thanks anyway!

Hej Henna
If you were focusing on Switzerland, maybe you should check this site here:
Suisseporcs
This is the commercial community of pig-breeders in Switzerland.
Or you try at Pigpool.
Good luck!
